It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our Matriarch in her 99th year, surrounded by her loving family, moments after welcoming Shabbat in her home. A Holocaust Survivor, Yiddishe Mamme, and kind soul, Toni was the beloved wife of the late Louis Blutstein, devoted mother and mother-in-law of Sabina and Harvey Sternthal, Judi and Ronnie Kornbluth. Precious Bubby of Marni and Paul, Francie and Doug, Lori and Georges, Jeremy and Jessica, Jill and Ryan, Michelle and Alex. Cherished great-grandmother of Ryan and Lee, Kasey and Jamie, Chloe and Sam, Luca and Bowie, Lottie, Sienna, Ella, and Louis. Loving sister and sister-in-law of Paula and the late Issie Latkowcer, the late Frances and the late Janek Widman (Bella Widman). Special “Auntie Toncia” to all her nieces and nephews.
Our heartfelt gratitude to her compassionate caregivers Lucy Reyes, Mildred David, and Josie Taplac, who loved Bubby like their own. We also extend special thanks to Laura Choiniere from CLSC Rene-Cassin, without whose support, we could not have cared for Bubby in the comfort of her home and with the utmost dignity.
To Bubby, family was her treasure, and each child her “jewel.” She will be deeply missed by everyone she touched with her gentle nature.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, March 4th at 12:00 pm. Burial at the Congregation Anshei Ukraine Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at her home daily from 2:00-4:00 pm, and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
