Tommy’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our precious Tommy (Thomas) Parsons at the age of 54 years. Tommy passed away with loving family at his side on November 11, 2023 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL.
For those who knew Tommy he was a remarkable person who loved his family and his friends dearly. He loved music of all kinds and as a young child would say, “There’s music in my bones”. Tommy enjoyed celebrations such as Christmas and birthdays and looked forward to family gatherings at these and any times. He loved sports, especially his Montreal Canadians, and it wasn’t uncommon for him to be watching different games of hockey and baseball on more than one television. Tommy’s loving and giving nature as well as his sense of humor will be forever missed by his very devoted mother, Florence (Melvin). The closeness and love between him and his sister, Marcy, was evident and he will be so missed by her and his special brother-in-law, Brian, who referred to him as his little brother. Tommy will also be missed by his treasured older brothers, Eddie (Sharon) and Wayne (Joan) and his sister-in-law, Virginia.
As well as his siblings, Tommy was a very proud uncle to his nieces and nephews, Shona, Jennifer, Janine, Wayne, Carolyn, Marcy, Terri-Lee, and Thomas, whom he not only shared his name but also his love of sports and pizza. Also remembering their spouses/partners and children.
Tommy was also very close to and loved by his Uncle Malcolm and Aunt Ruby. Their daughters Jackie (Willie), Lana (Terrance), and Laura (Sheldon) were more like sisters and he loved each of them dearly. Tommy will also be missed by others in his extended family, his friends, and his caregivers in St. John’s and Hampden.
He was predeceased by his twin brother, Charlie, his older brother, Randy, and his loving father Cecil.
The family would like to send special gratitude to the medical staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital who showed him great care, kindness, and compassion in the past weeks. The gentleness of the staff was beyond what could be expected. We also want to thank those who called, visited, or sent messages during this time. Tommy appreciated the thoughts and kind gestures more than words can say.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 14, from 7-9pm at Hampden Pentecostal Church. The funeral service and celebration of life will take place at the church on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 2pm. with Pastor Jeffrey White officiating. Flowers are graciously accepted or a donation in his memory may be made to the Hampden Pentecostal Church.
