With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas Martin, aged 60, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and a beloved member of a close-knit family. Tom departed this world unexpectedly on December 23, 2023, leaving a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Born on February 19, 1963, Tom was the beloved husband of Deborah Ann Martin (nee Cunningham). Together, they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories, their enduring bond a testament to the strength of their commitment.
Pre-deceased by his parents, George Martin (Father) and Marjorie Martin (nee Spencer), and his brother, Reid Martin. Cherished son-in-law of Joan Cunningham and Glen Cunningham (deceased). Tom is survived by his siblings: Cathy Coville (Andy), David Wrigley (Veronica), and Gord Wrigley (Janice) and brother-in-law to Terry Cunningham (Sandra), Glenda Cunningham (Murray), Glen Cunningham (Shannon), and Christina Cunningham. Tom was not only a loving father to three wonderful children, Lincoln White (Lucas), Brittany Martin (Justin), and Tye Martin (Carly), but also a proud and caring grandfather to Madalyn, Ashlyn, Gracelyn, and Mason.
Tom’s greatest joy in life was his role as a grandfather, and the memories created with his grandchildren will be cherished for generations. He had a unique way of brightening their days with simple gestures, such as bringing them Timbits – a sweet tradition symbolizing the love and joy he found in being a grandfather. Tom’s loyalty to the Toronto Maple Leaf’s was only surpassed by his love of the game. His commitment to the sport extended beyond the stands to the ice, where he coached his son’s hockey team, leaving a lasting impact on young players. Tom’s love for hockey created enduring bonds within his family and community, showcasing the profound influence he had on those who shared his enthusiasm for the game.
Though his physical presence is no longer with us, the memory of Tom will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, at the Wiarton Propeller Club from 2PM to 6PM. Casual dress, please wear something that reminds you of Tom such as your favourite Leaf’s jersey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a children’s sports foundation of your choice.
