Tomislav (Tom) Brajkovich, 86, of Orangeville, Ontario passed away on September 4th, 2023. Beloved husband, father, dida, and friend, he peacefully left this world leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Tom was a devoted husband to Milka for nearly 61 years, and a loving father to Damir (Dave) and Ivan (John) both born in Croatia. In 1969, he made the brave decision to move to Canada in search of a new life of opportunities for his family. Leaving his country, his first language, his older brother Ivo (deceased), and his sister Zlatica (who remains in Croatia), Tom joined his brother Walter (deceased) in Canada. Despite the challenges, he worked hard to build a new life for his family.
As a father, Tom devoted his life to mentoring and supporting his boys, Dave and John. He instilled in them the values of hard work, determination, and the willingness to take on any challenge that came their way. Tom’s unwavering support and guidance shaped his sons into the individuals they are today. His legacy as a loving and dedicated father will continue to inspire and guide them throughout their lives. Tom also cherished his five grandchildren, Stephanie, Maja, Hannah, Moses, and Milanja. He showed them unconditional love and supported them in every endeavor they pursued. His role as a dida brought him immense joy and fulfillment. As a father-in-law to Brenda and Dana, he loved them both as daughters and taught them the importance of family values.
Throughout his life, Tom lived admirably and achieved great things with wonder, love, and meaning. As a husband, a father, a dida, and a friend, Tomislav will be immensely missed by many. His spirit will continue to live on through the memories he created with his family and friends and he will be forever in their hearts.
A celebration of life will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre 21 First St Orangeville, Ontario on Wednesday, September 6th between 6pm – 9pm in the Lower Level.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Tomislav’s name to the Headwaters Hospital Foundation.
A tree will be planted in memory of Tom in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
