Bruce Merlyn Thompson of Meaford passed away on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023 at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford in his 87th year.
Born in Uxbridge on January 8, 1936, he was a son of the late Ross and Grace (nee Beach) Thompson.
Bruce was the much-loved father of James Thompson (Kerrie) of Holland Centre, Robert Thompson (Darlene) of Keady, Joanne Potter (Paul) of Desboro, Carolyn Keenan (Mike) of Mississauga, Kathryn Thompson of Kitchener, and was predeceased by his sons Bradley and David Thompson, and his son-in-law Tom Thompson. He was the cherished grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of 6.
Bruce will be remembered fondly by his brothers Keith Thompson (Evelyn), Lowell Thompson (Yvonne), Dean Thompson (Carol) and his nieces, nephews and their families.
Bruce enjoyed farming beef cattle in Holland Centre for many years and retired from farming in the 90s. He worked at Campbell Soup in Listowel and then worked for the Ministry of Natural Resources in Owen Sound. Bruce spent many hours playing Euchre and loved the friendship and comradery that went along with the card game. He also thoroughly enjoyed the Casino and spending time with old and new friends.
