Obituary of Thomas Meredith Moore
Thomas M. Moore
1934- December 24, 2023
Died peacefully from complications of mesothelioma and Covid at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton on Christmas Eve.
Thomas was born in Beamsville during the Great Depression, living as everyone did during those years with limited resources. This made him very grateful for what many consider the little blessings that came his way. He learned to work hard from the early age of 10 with Japanese who were forcibly sent to Ontario during World War II, and after the War in the family business of producing concrete blocks; he held a strong work ethic his entire life.
Inspired by his older siblings’ service in the Royal Canadian Navy, Thomas joined the Navy and served on Tribal Destroyers during the Cold War. He was stationed in Montreal and Halifax, moving to Hamilton after an honourable discharge. Here he worked as a Stationary Engineer on coal-fired boilers for the Hamilton Board of Education, raising two sons, Robert and Ronald. He instilled in them the discipline he acquired from military service.
Thomas is survived by his sister Marion, and predeceased by his wife Annie (Wilma), brothers James Whyte & James Thrower, and sister Louise Thrower.
Due to the family’s exposure to Covid, a private grave-side burial service has been planned.

O Christ, Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage did sleep;
O hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea.
