It is with heavy hearts that the family of Thomas (Tom)
Gerard Borden announce his sudden passing on December 23,2023, in
Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 61. Tom was the son of the late
Bernard Elliott & Marjorie Marie (Ash) Borden, Monastery,
Antigonish Co., Nova Scotia.
Tom passionately worked as a Certified Paramedic with
Emergency Health Services (EHS) in Halifax and Dartmouth, serving the
HRM area for several years.
After moving to Calgary in July 2008, Tom worked various
occupations, beginning with Air Canada at the Calgary Airport. His
time in Calgary led him to become an employee with Alberta Health
Services (AHS) for many years, providing his time and expertise to the
population of Alberta. Tom’s passions and creative abilities
allowed him to become an established photojournalist, capturing
photographs and timeless moments of countless music artists around the
city of Calgary and the surrounding area.
Thomas is survived by his siblings Martha Gordon, Dartmouth;
Mary Borden, Calgary; Margaret Bundy (Raymond) Dartmouth; Charlotte
Williams, East Preston; Theresa Borden, Antigonish; Joseph Borden
(Diane), Dartmouth; Edmund Borden (Gale), Lower South River;
Bernadette Borden, Dartmouth; sister-in-law Lindy McNamara &
foster brothers, John Parris, Upper Big Tracadie; and Michael Downey
Antigonish. Thomas is also survived by his beloved maternal uncle,
William Leo Ash, Beechville; 3 nieces, 6 nephews, 4 great-nieces
& 3 great-nephews; godchild Durrell Borden, and several
cousins.
Thomas was predeceased by his brothers Paul Christopher
Borden, Anthony Eugene Borden, and Leo Bernard Borden; sister Ida
Christine Borden; foster brother James McNamara; brother-in-law Wayde
(Wade) Williams; and his parents Bernard and Marjorie
Borden.
The cremation process is complete, and the family will
announce the burial services at a later date.
