Obituary of Therese Ladouceur
Ladouceur, Thérèse Diane (Sister M. Rose Suzanne SNJM)
March 10, 1941- September 17, 2023
The Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, U.S. Ontario Province, announce the birth into eternal life of Sister Thérèse Ladouceur on September 17, 2023 at Devonshire Residence in Windsor at the age of 82 years and 62 years of Religious Profession. She was surrounded by her SNIM Community, family members, faithful caregivers and friends.
Thérèse was the first born «miracle child» of Béatrice (Pilon) Ladouceur (2012) and Henry Ladouceur (1970). Beloved sister of Dolores (2019) and Verne Mandolesi, Suzanne and Carl (2022) Charlton, Pauline and Tom Deal. Cherished aunt to several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Family meant everything to her.
Thérèse attended school in Timmins, Ontario till the age of ten when the family moved to Windsor. Upon graduation from St. Mary’s Academy, she entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of the Holy Names in Outremont, QC in 1959 and professed Perpetual Profession on August 5, 1966.
Thérèse loved teaching and retired after 34 years of ministry in French language schools in Windsor (St. John) and Es County (St-Joseph, Sacré Coeur, Ste Ursule, St. Joachim). As an educator, she served at times as Principal and as Religious and Family Life Consultant. She considered her introduction of a method of Reading to staff and students (la Méthode Sablier) in French primary grades a highlight.
Thérèse was not afraid of a challenge and at age 38 she accepted the role of Community Leader for the Sisters who would be relocated from St. Mary’s Academy to the New Peter Street Residence. She exemplified courage. faith and enthusiasm.
In her «Retirement» years Thérèse served as Pastoral Minister in River Canard for five years, was Province Treasurer for five years and cared for her ailing mother until she moved to the Devonshire Retirement Residence in 2013. She was a member of the Service Team of Centering Prayer in Southwestern Ontario.
Hospitality, contemplation, a welcoming heart, good food and gatherings with family, her SNJM Community and friends sustained and delighted her. Her life was a resounding
«Alleluia» «Alleluia”
