Mary Therese (Theresa) Lacombe (Melling) was born on December 5, 1932 in Makwa, Saskatchewan as the sixth of eight children born to John and Catherine Melling. She went to school in Makwa, Hafford, and later boarding school in Regina. She was a supervising teacher in Rollo Park Saskatchewan where she met Fred and they married on November 17, 1952. They farmed in the Blue Bell area in Saskatchewan and their first three children were born in Meadow Lake. They moved to Lloydminster where Fred worked as a heavy duty mechanic first for Case and then for many years for John Deere. Three additional children were born in Lloydminster. They retired and did some trailering across Canada and in the Rocky Mountain National Parks which they both enjoyed tremendously. In their retirement years they also enjoyed supporting their children with the raising of their grandchildren. After Fred died, Theresa moved to Padua Place, then Pioneer Lodge and lastly Pioneer House where she continued to be active in her parish and visit with many people.
Theresa died peacefully on Oct 6 at Pioneer House in Lloydminster.
Celebrating many memories are Theresa’s children Ellen Klontz; Joan (Wil) Rempel, their children Melissa (Brian) Gibb and great grand children Eleanor and Finlay, Matt (Jane) Rempel; Bob Lacombe, ex-wife Angie and their children Christopher, Stephen (Hannah) and Samantha; Linda Lacombe, her daughter Kaylan (Darcy) Christopherson and great grand children Cullen and Poppy; Jim (Kellee) Lacombe, ex-wife Betty and their children Nathan and Lucas, step grandchildren Mikayla and Tom, and step great grand children Macy and Jax; Cathy Gaultier, her children Joel (Kaylee) and great grandchildren Noah and Henry, Amanda Gaultier, husband Eric Goudreau and great grandchild Sam; and sister Sister Marie Melling.
Theresa is predeceased by husband Fred, her parents John and Catherine Melling, and six siblings Delina, John, Agnes, Joe, Jean and Bob, and her sons in law Fernand Gaultier and Calvin Klontz.
She was a very active member of her church community St. Anthonys Roman Catholic Church in Lloydminster including being a CWL member, CWL president, bible study participant, sacristan, and a friend to many parishioners and clergy over the years.
Theresa was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother – loving, guiding, supportive. Her greatest joys were attending mass, and visiting with family and friends.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on October 13, 2023 at 2 pm at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Lloydminster, Alberta.
Interment will follow at the Lloydminster City Cemetery.
