It is with great sadness that the family of Theresa Townsend-Scholar announces her passing on November 17th, 2023 at Wynn Park Villa, her home in Truro, Nova Scotia.
Born March 1st, 1937 in Sydney to the late Tom and Catherine Townsend she grew up with her three siblings on Gritton Avenue. After attending Holy Angels High School, she worked in various positions at St. Rita’s Hospital. Theresa moved to Boston in the early 60’s and worked at New England Baptist Hospital living in the dorms and making some of her life-long friendships. She married Emil Scholar in 1987 surrounded by family and friends. Theresa and Emil lived in Roslindale, MA where she became a huge New England sports fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Emil and her parents, Tom and Catherine; brothers, Churnley (Virginia) and Angus (Margie), brother-in-law Alex, and nephew, Bram. Theresa is survived by her sister, Frankie and she also leaves to mourn her nephews and nieces including Tom, Cathy, Brenda, Evelyn, Angela, Brent, Sandra, Keith, and Blair.
Her family grieves with the knowledge of a life well lived and the gratitude of eternal peace well earned. We express thanks and deep gratitude to the incredible staff at Wynn Park for their compassionate and attentive care for Theresa.
Donations in Theresa’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or to the charity of your choice. At Theresa’s request a private graveside ceremony will take place at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Coulter’s Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche.
