It is with deep sorrow and love that we mourn the passing of Theodore Edward “Ted” Kuhl on Sunday, May 7, 2023, in his 87th year after a brief illness. Ted was much loved by his wife and partner Elizabeth Jane Isabel (née Maslen), for thirty-three years.
He will be dearly missed by sons Shane (Cathy) Kuhl of London and Wade (Alissa) Kuhl of St. Jacobs, and daughter Alicia (Mike) Pepe of Westminster, Colorado, four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Ted was the loving stepfather of Rev. Dr. Daniel Hansen of Renfrew, Martha (Gerard) Appelman of Cavan, and Wendy (Bruce) Hansen-McEachern of East York, six step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. He will be deeply mourned by twin sister Edith Maciaczyk of Kitchener, sisters Pat (Martin) Klein of Huntingdon Valley (Pennsylvania) and Margaret (Larry) Eagleson of Chatham, and brother-in-law Ed of Kitchener, plus a large extended family.
Ted was predeceased by his parents Carl and Beatrice Kuhl, sisters Nancy Bishop and Diane Kubert, brother George Kuhl, and brother-in-law Marty Maciaczyk.
Ted had a great sense of humour, and laughed at himself as much as anyone else. His brother and sisters were Ted’s gold, being both family and, with his wife Elizabeth, his closest friends. He loved flying his model planes, teaching others to fly, and going for coffee. He was always there for those who were close to him. He believed in the Carmel New Church and the writings of Emmanuel Swedenborg and the Word of God. In later years, Ted volunteered for Meals on Wheels, delivering food to homebound people and bringing them connection.
The family wishes to extend thanks and gratitude to the staff at Stratford General Hospital for their care and compassion during Ted’s final three days of his earthly life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 13th at 2:00 pm at the Carmel New Church, 40 Chapel Hill Drive, Kitchener (519-748-5802). Service live-streamed at www.youtube.com/carmelnewchurch (www.carmelnewchurch.org). Refreshments and visiting following in church hall.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
