Ross, Thelma (1929-2023)
It is with great sadness, Thelma Ross (née Matheson) peacefully passed away on Wednesday March 29th 2023, at the age of 93 years. Thelma leaves behind three children; Larry (Cathie), Bruce (Joan), and Donna, who miss their mother immensely. She will forever be in the hearts of her five grandchildren, Charles, Nikki (Chris), Phillip, Ronnie, Billy, and her five great-grandchildren, Rain, Ella, Shai, Benjamin, and Mia.
Thelma will live on in the memories of her many close relatives. She treasured each and every one with all her heart and tried to visit them as often as possible. Her friendship and kindness will be missed by all of her close friends, some near, some far, but all very dear.
Born on May 20th 1929, and raised in the Abercrombie, Nova Scotia area, she was the youngest sister of Katherine (Adrian), William, Loretta (Ron), Finlay (Rosalie), and Margaret (Carl). In Abercrombie they were surrounded by loving family. After she finished school, she got her first job in New Glasgow and eventually travelled to Boston, Mass. and worked there for a short time. After marrying Charles Ross in 1950 they moved to Sudbury, Ontario and began their married life. In 1957, with two children and one more on the way, they purchased a lot in the Long Lake area and began to build the family home. While raising her three children, she worked at the Dominion Grocery store. Retiring in 1983, she spent her time travelling, volunteering, socializing with friends, and a lot of card playing. Thelma was a friend to all and generously gave her time and energy to those around her. She will be forever missed.
In keeping with Thelma’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. Thelma and Charles’ ashes will make the journey together to lie in rest in Abercrombie Cemetery, Nova Scotia, next to her mother and father. In lieu of flowers, please volunteer to help someone or donate to the Canadian Cancer Society. Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
