Ted Frank Wazonek
Ted Frank Wazonek, most affectionately known as Papa passed away peacefully at home, into the arms of God. On July 22 at the age of 92, Ted received his last call. He is now reunited with his loving wife Carolle, daughter Michelle and great grandson Caiden. Ted was a proud Dad and Papa, leaving behind a legacy of 39 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born on a homestead in Opal, Alberta, Ted was the last survivor of six siblings. At the age of 12, he and his family moved to Toronto by train. He began a long and successful career as a locomotive engineer with C.P. Railway at the age of 18 until his retirement in 1989. He was a proud member of BLE 295. He shared his passion for Manitoulin Island enjoying many trips there with his grandkids. He was a devout cradle Catholic and passed on his strong faith and traditions to his family. Ted and his family were incredibly grateful for the exemplary care he received from the Central East Home and Community Care Support Services, as well as the many years of special attention from his family doctor and team. Ted was blessed to have the most incredible neighbors and friends. He will forever be missed.
In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate donations to VHA Home HealthCare or St. Vincent De Paul Society.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home (211 Langstaff Road East Thornhill, Ontario). The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Joseph (located within Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home). Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery (8361 Yonge Street Thornhill, Ontario).
