Obituary
Passed away peacefully at Chapman House on August 4, 2023. Born in Owen Sound on April 3, 1937. Ted Bluhm of Owen Sound was 86 years old.
Beloved husband of Beverly (Bev) Dianne Bluhm (nee Cockerill) of Owen Sound. Father of Annelie Elizabeth McCallum of Owen Sound. Cherished Grandpa of Mike (Carrie) McCallum of Alliston, Scott (Sally) McCallum of Australia and Mark McCallum of Alliston. Beloved Great Grandfather of six. Dear brother of Bob (Lillian) Bluhm of Jarvis. Ted will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews, family and his many friends.
Predeceased by his brother Douglas (Jeff) Bluhm, his sister Anonna Bowman and by his wife Maria (Mia) Anna Bluhm (2008).
Ted enlisted in the Branch R.C.R. in 1954 and was discharged in 1957 in the rank of Sapper.
Ted has been very involved in the community raising monies for various projects. After the boat launch at the Bayshore was completed, Ted was instrumental in starting the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer. In this capacity, he raised money for the Skating Rink in Harrison Park, the Splash Pad at Kelso Beach and many other projects in and around Owen Sound.
A come and go memorial visitation will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Memorial Branch 6 at 1450 2nd Avenue West, Owen Sound on Monday August 14th, from 1-4 pm., with words of remembrance at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Scenic Order of Good Cheer and the Chapman House Hospice would be appreciated.
In keeping with Ted’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
