With great sadness we announce the passing of Tania Alisa Hodges on Sunday, July 23, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 53.
Tania’s light entered our world on May 14th 1970, in Richmond B.C to parents Allana and Silvio. Tania and her family lived many places in Canada during her childhood,and would eventually settle down in Calgary AB.
Despite the challenges and adversity she faced, her positivity was unwavering. She was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She spent her life committed to making others smile whether it be through song, art or her continued perseverance and strength.
Tania spent many years teaching art at the Four Nations School for Native Children and was heavily involved in the Metis community. In 2002, she was honored with the Metis name “Bear Woman”. Like a bear, she was incredibly strong and stubborn, refusing to allow anything to stand in her way.
Despite her constant fight, she always found the light in life. She taught those around her how to live in the moment and enjoy the little things in life. She will be remembered and forever loved by many.
She loved family above all, and is now reunited in peace with her father, Silvio Diotalevi and husband, Clayton Hodges.
Tania is survived by her beloved daughter, Dana and son-in-law, Jesse; her ever-loving mother, Allana; siblings Gina and Michael; nieces Nicole and Alisa; great-nephews Nico and Luka and great-niece Ivy, whom she treasured like her own.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2715 Dovely Park (The Clubhouse) on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at 4:00pm.
