Obituary
Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family, at the Carbonear General Hospital following a lengthy illness, Sylvia Brenton, of South Dildo, aged 80 years.
Predeceased by her parents Freeman and Bessie Reid; parents-in-law Alice and Albert Brenton; brother David Reid; brother and sister-in-law Eric and Frances Brenton; brothers-in-law Graham Green and Robert Brenton; and sister-in-law Mary Gerbig.
Leaving to mourn are her husband of 59 years, Gordon Brenton; her daughter Elizabeth (Jim) Winters; her son Don (Juanita, and step-grandchildren Melanie and Peyton); she will be greatly missed by her two precious grandchildren, that she loved with all her heart, Emily Winters (Stephen) and Hilary Winters; also, leaving to mourn are her brothers and sisters Jim (Lorraine) Reid, Calvin (Hilda) Reid, Marjorie (Thomas) Reid, and Elsie Green; sister-in-law Velma Reid; her very special Uncle, Don Reid; her brothers and sisters-in-law Harvey (Ruth) Brenton, Ernie (Carmel) Brenton, Albert (Donna) Brenton, Melvin (Sandra) Brenton, Beatrice Weiss, Ethel (David) Janes, Ruby (Mike) Martin, Judy (Rick) Hindy, Marjorie Brenton, Lorraine (Lloyd) Hunter; Sylvia is also lovingly remembered by a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Carbonear General Hospital, especially the emergency nursing staff and Dr. Holloway, and the nurses on the 6th floor along with Dr. Howse. Your kind and compassionate care will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held from Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo, NL, on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
A funeral service to celebrate Sylvia’s life will be held from Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo, NL, on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Cremation to follow.
Interment will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Sylvia may be made to Warren’s Funeral Home Ltd., to help alleviate some costs to the family at such a difficult time.
