With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Suzanne ‘Sue’ Evelyn Willard (née Gagné) of North Cobalt at the age of 75. Sue passed away peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital on March 28th, 2024.
To know Sue was to love her. She was known for having a kind and generous heart— a true embodiment of selflessness. Whether extending a helping hand, opening her home to those in need, or simply offering a listening ear, Sue left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
Sue cultivated a rich family life, cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones. She found joy in hosting holiday dinners and summer corn roasts at the family farm. At Auntie Sue’s table, there was always a warm welcome and an open seat, symbolizing the genuine hospitality she extended to all. Sue was a woman of remarkable versatility. She loved to play baseball. Sue’s best friend and sister-in-law, Dale (Willard) Turcotte, fondly recalled that Sue couldn’t hit worth a shit, but that she always made it to base. It was only fitting that she also managed the concession stand at Rotary Farr Park during those spirited days. Beyond the ball field, Sue found fulfillment as a waitress at the Kingsway Restaurant and as a healthcare aide at Extendicare. Alongside her beloved husband, Stan, Sue proudly owned and operated Willard’s convenience store and Willard’s Greenhouse, each venture a testament to their shared work ethic and enduring bond.
Sue has been reunited with her husband, Stanley, and daughter, Starr, in Heaven’s eternal embrace. As her mother’s devoted caregiver, Starr faithfully remained by Sue’s side in spirit until the very end; their reunification brings comfort to those they leave behind, knowing they are together once more. Their spirits will forever watch over their cherished family, guiding them with love and protection.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Sue’s granddaughter, Hailey, for overseeing Sue’s care following Starr’s passing. Stan, Sue and Starr would undoubtedly be proud of Hailey’s resilience and compassionate commitment during this challenging time.
Predeceased by her husband Stanley Willard, her daughter Starr Willard, her parents Albert and Jeanette Gagné, and her siblings Aurèle Gagné, Leatrice Gagné, Rita Weber, and Carole Lyons. Left to mourn are her adored grandchildren Hailey (Zachary) Cole, Logan Willard, Shawnisty Willard, and Sylar Berube; her siblings John (late Liette) Gagné, Alice (Rosaire) Forget, and Diane (Keith) Miller. Sue is also survived by her son, Shawn Willard, alongside numerous nieces and nephews.
As per Suzanne’s wishes, cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium in Haileybury. A celebration of Suzanne’s life will be held at a later date. Condolences and memories can be left at www.buffamleveille.com
