It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Susan Elaine Wallace on November 7th, 2024. Surrounded by love, Susan left this world with grace and courage, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
She will be deeply missed by her beloved partner of 46 years, Brian Paterson; her sons, Jay and Richie Wallace; her daughter-in-law, Kim Wallace; her other «daughter» Debrah Esayenko; and her dearest friends and extended family, who were the center of her world. Susan’s influence, humor, and enduring love will remain etched in their hearts as they carry her legacy forward.
Born on October 24, 1946, in Winnipeg, Susan moved to Calgary at the age of two, where she described her childhood as “almost perfect», creating lasting memories with her lifelong friends, Marnie Glass and Shelby Todd. It was during those early years she developed a love for friendship, style, and humor that defined her life.
Susan became a jeweler for 5th Avenue Jewelry in 1989, a role that reflected her dazzling, glamorous nature. She was the epitome of a gracious hostess, always greeting her guests with a bright smile and a warm hug. Her elegance, charm, and generosity were unmatched, as was her love for her many pets over the years, especially her and Brian’s Westies.
Susan and Brian spent many happy years sailing the Gulf Islands on their beloved boat, Cachet. They enjoyed living in Coquitlam, BC, for nearly three decades after moving there in 1990, before returning to Calgary in 2018 to be closer to family.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported Susan during her short illness, especially her dedicated family doctor, Dr. Claire Wickett, whose exceptional care went above and beyond.
Rest in peace, Susan. You were a guiding light in all our lives, and your dazzling spirit will forever shine in our hearts. We will miss you for the rest of our lives.
