Susan died peacefully in her sleep, in hospice care, with her sister holding her hand. She lived her life with zest, fulfilled by her love of family, friends and pleasant outings.
Susan will be greatly missed by her many friends and very deeply missed by her loving brother Don (Sandy), sister Wendy (John), nephew Benjamin and her cousins on the Seccombe and Brownlee sides of the family.
Susan was born in Toronto in 1951 to Grant Ashton Cooper and Margaret Isabel née Brownlee. She attended Weston Collegiate Institute before studying at Humber College and then York University. Afterwards, Susan worked for the Toronto Star newspaper as a newsroom librarian followed by many years as a legal secretary in Toronto. In 2018 Susan moved to Windsor where she pursued a career as an independent businesswoman.
Susan was a very positive person and always great company. She appreciated music, particularly jazz, as well as the fine arts and theatre. She was an excellent pianist, and many will recall fondly the occasions when she agreed to play for an audience.
Many thanks to Susan’s good friends from all stages of her life for their kindness and support, particularly in her recent Windsor years.
Thanks also to Windsor Regional Hospital – Metropolitan and Ouellette Campuses; Home and Community Care Support Services, Erie-St. Clair; Saint Elizabeth Health Care, Windsor Ontario; and Erie Shores Hospice Residential Home, for their high level of expertise and much-appreciated compassion when caring for Susan.
We will always remember Susan’s strong independence and cheerful spirit.
