Susan passed with grace, surrounded by love, at Queens Garden on Friday, February 24, 2023 in her 80th year. Sue was the beloved and loving wife of the late John (Jack) Walton (2010), adored mother of Rick and Hea Sook Jung, Jennifer and Marvin Karon, and Sarah. Cherished grandmother of Max McCarron and Sukie Takao. Her grand-children were one of her greatest sources of joy. She will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law Ted Read and Senka Dukovich, Ron and Rosiane Read, and the late John Read and Natalie Baird. She was loved and held dear by her Walton family: Jim and Karen Walton, Beth and Bob Goodwin, Michael Walton and Christine Walton. Predeceased by parents Don and Isabel Read and daughter-in-law to the late Reginald and Doris Walton. She will be missed by Masami Takao and Mathew McCarron. Sue loved to spend time with her many nieces and nephews and their families. Aunt Sue will be fondly remembered for her holiday celebrations and pie baking skills.
Sue lived a life filled with laughter and friendship. She was blessed with deep and meaningful connections to people, animals, and nature throughout her life. Over the years, she volunteered for many organizations including Hearing Ear Dogs of Canada and McNally House Hospice. She was a Lifeguard in Hamilton and worked at the Royal Botanical Gardens Nature Centre. She loved working with children. Her passions included bird watching, gardening, hiking, and being a fierce protector of nature.
Heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff for the outstanding care our mother received at Queens Garden. Thank you for your kindness to our whole family.
Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington on Friday March 10th for a service at 1pm to be followed by a reception from 2-4pm. As an expression of sympathy, donations to McNally House, Royal Botanical Gardens, or Hamilton Alliance of Tiny Shelters (HATS) can be made in lieu of flowers.
