After valiantly coming back from many health issues for many years, Sue segued into her final fight on January 6, 2024.
Sue was born February 22 1953 to Hilda and Stephen Audette of Transcona.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, her brother Ronald, and sister-in-law Dee.
She leaves behind her daughter Kristjana (Brad) Kosheluk, grand children Kolby and Kayllin, dog Esme, niece Rebecca (John) of Massachusetts , nephew Josh (Terra) of Ontario, great nephew Kyle, great nieces Talia and Gwen, many extended family and friends, 18 horses, numerous chickens and cats. She will be missed dearly by all.
Sue had a very interesting and fascinating life. She grew up Transcona proud, even becoming Mrs. Transcona in 1961. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Social Work ready to challenge the world in designing and starting a new career in Aboriginal practice. Following this, she transitioned to Child and Family Services where, over the years, she held various roles including supervisor and director. She found great reward throughout her challenging career, but decided it was time to hang up her hat and retired in 2009.
Sue loved to travel and spend time at the cottage. She travelled near and far. From Ghana, Rome, Egypt, Hawaii, Florida, to many family trips with the camper across Canada and the US. This year she finally crossed Vegas off her bucket list. The Traverse Bay cottage was a very special place with lots of memories over the past 70 years. From taking the train up from Transcona, to working on the mink ranch, playing in the sand, to cutting trees, saunas, playing cards, and picking blueberries. Spending time with family and friends all summer long. Many things changed over the years, but the love for the cottage and the joy it brought her never faded.
Faith was also very important in Sue’s life. She was a strong catholic who started attending Blessed Sacrament Church at a young age. When living in Anola, she attended the Church in Glass, Mb. From there she joined the committee to build a new church in Anola, which became Our Lady of Hope. As one of the founding members, she was an active participant in many church activities including choir member, attending church teas and fundraisers, and the sacristan for many years. She also joined the archdiocese’s Liturgy committee. She felt a calling to become a Nathan light, and also sang in the archdioceses choir for many years.
All her life Sue wanted to live her life surrounded by friends, family, and animals. She was an active Red Hatter for many years, and also kept herself busy volunteering for the many different activities her daughter and grandkids roped her into. She moved in with her family in 2012 after a few health scares. She got to watch her grandchildren grow up. Her dream of living on a horse ranch and have another English Springer Spaniel all came true near the end of her life.
Heart felt thanks to Dr. Gillette, Dr. Puff, the Palliative Care team, and Home Care for your support and care for all of us during the last few months.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church 34131 Highway 15 in Anola.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Canadian Diabetes, Heart and Stroke, Cancer Care MB, or your favourite charity.
