Dad loved the oldies, and Hotel California would have made the list of favorites. In the end, he found his ticket to depart this chapter.
They say that order is Heaven’s first law, and that would mean everything that we experience here in life is a divinely orchestrated symphony.
Dad came to play his music, through his guitar, through his carpentry and woodworking, and in his ability to connect with others through laughter, music and friendship.
Even more so it came through in the love for his family, he was the protector, the guardian, of his wife Linda, his son Scott and daughter Amy, and his grandchildren Sasha, Cami and Bryce.
People talk about the importance of the dash between one’s birthdate and the end, and that life’s meaning is tied up in it. Dad somehow managed to make everything timeless, his love and love of service, encapsulating all he was into his interactions.
Dad wrote a song, titled Now’s the Time, and although we don’t believe that was his intent at the time, it shows that he grasped the concept of living in the present. At one point in his life, he stopped wearing a watch in recognition of the importance of being in the now.
He was Dad to our own friends, Uncle Steve to many others, he was a natural magnet for many. As our cousin once said, everyone needs an Uncle Steve like him.
Dad will live on in our hearts, in our tears, in our fond stories and memories. He touched many people these past 75 years and all of you were a part of his final melodies.
