Steve Smith, 63, of London, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital in London on Sunday, March 12, 2023 after a valiant battle against cancer.
Born on May 20, 1959, Steve grew up on the Army base in Petawawa, Ontario before moving to London. He worked at Kellogg’s beginning in 1984 until his retirement in 2014. Retirement didn’t slow him down though; Steve was always busy, whether it was repainting or renovating his home, picking up odd jobs to keep him entertained, or helping friends or family with whatever they needed. He always seemed to know just what to do, and always had the right tool on hand for the job.
Despite spending much of the last year and a half in and out of the hospital, Steve never lost his sense of humour. He was always cracking jokes, and giving the nurses and doctors a hard time (then making it up to them by buying a round of coffee and timbits).
Steve was many things in life: son, brother, father, husband, home chef, “master of the mini-wheats”, hockey enthusiast, friend, but the thing he was most was loved.
Steve will be forever missed by his children, Brianne Lynn Moore (Craig), Tanner Michael Smith (Amy), and Alisha Anne Smith, his mother, Beverly Smith, his brothers, Derek Smith, Darrell Smith, Glenn Smith (Lisa), as well as many members of his extended family, and much loved friends. He was predeceased by his father, Jim Smith.
