Obituary of Stephen Hoare
Robert Stephen Hoare, 64, Westville, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late William “Bumper” and Mabel (Gratto) Hoare. Stephen was raised in the “north end” and remained close to his childhood friends. A diehard “north ender”, he often stated that he was a “north ender forever”. Stephen was employed with the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission in Pictou County and Bible Hill until retirement. He was an avid Montreal Canadian’s and Denver Bronco’s fan. Stephen possessed his “own” sense of humour and was “funny all the time” whether he intended or not. He was a loving partner, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. For Stephen, “life has changed; not ended!”
Surviving are his partner of 26 years, Gina Dean; son, Billy Hoare, Westville; daughter, Jenna (Nick) Tanner, Bridgewater; sister, Donna (Hoyt) Olsen, Denver, Col.; brother, David (Tara) Hoare, Fox Creek, Alta.; grandson, Benjamin; two uncles; several nieces and nephews; many cousins.
In keeping with Stephen’s wishes a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
