Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stefan Serec in his 90th year, peacefully at St. Joseph Health Centre, August 18th, 2023.
He was predeceased by his son Joe and his former wife Teresa. Beloved brother of Maria Zizek and her husband Stefan. Predeceased by brother Franc and brother Joźe. He was a loving uncle to Kristina (Mark) and Anthony (Constance).
Stefan enjoyed being part of the Slovenian community and was proud of his heritage. He was known to volunteer with many projects within the community, including his long-term association with Slovenian Credit Union. Having a passion for woodworking, he was a frame maker at Roberts Gallery for much of his career. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. He will be missed by his family and friends in Slovenia and Canada.
A special thank you to the team at St. Josephs Health Centre and Copernicus Lodge for their exceptional care and compassion.
Visitation will be held at Arthur B. Ridley Funeral Home (3080 Lake Shore Blvd W., Toronto) on Tuesday, August 22nd, from 2:00-5:00 PM. A funeral will take place at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church (739 Brown’s Line) on Wednesday, August 23rd at 11:00 AM, with burial at Assumption Catholic Cemetery to follow (6933 Tomken Rd). If desired, memorial donations made to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
