ELSIPOGTOG, NB – Stanley Sock, 79, of Elsipogtog
passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the Dr.
Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital Center in Moncton. Born in
Rexton, NB, he was the son of the late John Sock and the late Sarah
(Levi) Sock.
Stanley was a dedicated and active member of his community.
He served on the Elsipogtog Band Council for 30 years and was a
respected member of the Elsipogtog Fire Department for 20 years.
Stanley was also the founder of Stan’s Grocery, Big Cove
Toys, and Micmac Industries, all of which significantly contributed to
the local economy and provided opportunities for many in the
community. In his younger days, he worked with a bridge construction
company, where he developed a reputation for his strong work ethic and
commitment to quality.
Stanley will be sadly missed by his four daughters, Cindy
Sock (GiGi), Trudy Sock (Kimball), Sarah Sock, and Krystal Francis
(Kody), all of Elsipogtog; one son, Chief Aaron Sock (Natasha) of
Elsipogtog; thirteen grandchildren, Keisha, Jerron, Kendrew,
Aaron-Mike, Bailey, Julian, Keela, Ryden, Kayleb-Don, Mallory,
Shirlese, Lily-Jae, Kade; and eleven
great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by seven sisters, Anita Joseph (Peter) of
Elsipogtog, Madeline Ward (Roy) of Red Bank, Lee Ann Sock (Mark),
Sally Peter Paul (late Pat), Sylvia Milliea (Anthony), Ava Sock, and
Gloria Sock, all of Elsipogtog; nine brothers, Jacob Sock (Geraldine)
of Elsipogtog, Harold Sock (Diane) of Richibucto, Leon Sock (Carol) of
Elsipogtog, Alfred Sock (Linda) of Eel Ground, Charlie Sock (Serena),
Gerald Sock (late Pauline), Ronald Sock (Sheila), Simon Joe Sock
(Rose), and James Sock (Gwen); sisters-in-law, Lulu Sock, Dolores
Sock; son-in-law, Floyd Simon, all of Elsipogtog; and many nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Shirley
(Sanipass) Sock; one daughter, Eileen; three grandchildren, Mila,
Kaylee-Dawn, Kendall; one sister, Margaret; and six brothers, Howard
Sock, Harry Sock (late Eva), Levi Sock, Jesse Sock, Fred Sock, and
Russel Sock.
Visitation will be held at 26 Maple Street in Elsipogtog,
beginning on Thursday at 2:00 pm until the time of the funeral. A
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at
11:00 am at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Elsipogtog.
Arrangements are in the professional care of Thompson’s
Funeral Home in Richibucto (506-523-4252).
