Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Sophia Rose Gallop announces her passing on Saturday, March 9th, 2024 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre at the age of 79 years. Born in Oregans, to Joseph and Elizabeth Ryan (nee Ellis); a twin to James Ryan; and mother to Denise Marie, all of whom she was predeceased by.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of precious memories, her loving husband of 61 years, Clifford Gallop; her daughters, Sandra (Noel) and Bonnie (Gerard); her only grandson, Shane (Megan); her four granddaughters, Tiffany (John), Denise (Sherman), April, and Robin (Quincy); and her twelve great-grandchildren.
Sophia’s own words:
Don’t cry for me because I am gone, I’m cozy and warm in God’s loving arms. To my two loving girls whom I love so much; please don’t cry. I know someday you will feel Gods loving touch. To my loving husband whom I love with all my heart; you know we won’t spend too long apart. In life we did everything together, we will do again in summer weather. God will welcome us to heaven and say “follow along and never again will we be alone”.
Special thanks to the staff at 2 South, Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre for their care and compassion. Also Special thanks to Sue and Kim, Denise and any staff who cared and loved Sophia during her fight with her illness. Sincere gratitude to Debbie, Donna, Glynn and Jason MacDonald for all the help in these final days.
In keeping with Sophia’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sophia’s memory can be made to the Ronald MacDonald House. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home Inc, 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques, 695-2300 www.easthavenfuneralhome.com
