We are sad to say that our beautiful mother, Sigrid Grossi, took her last breath the morning of Monday June 19th, 2023, to join the love of her life, René, ´Papa’ Grossi. Sigrid led a life full of good food, laughter, adventure, and love. She nurtured friendships that spanned decades and crossed oceans. Sigrid travelled from Germany to Canada in 1957 and got a job working at the Royal Victoria Hospital as a nurse- in- training. Soon after her arrival she met René, who had just newly arrived himself from Bretagne, France. The handsome French cyclist rescued her boot from a mound of snow and the unlikely couple ( French and German!) married after a short courtship in 1959.
In 1961 they were one of the founding families of their beloved Chomedey Baptist Church, which Sigrid still attended until her passing. There she made lifelong friends and raised her four beautiful children; Rene, Dominique, Chantal and Melanie. We already miss her tremendously but know she is eating a baguette topped with butter and cheese with our dad, Papa, her greatest love.
Visitation we be Sunday July 2nd at Complexe Funéraire Yves Légaré in Ste- Dorothée, Laval from 1pm to 5 pm
The funeral service will be held at Chomedey Baptist Church, Chomedey, Laval, July 3rd at 11 am
The burial of the urn July 4th at 11:00 at Cimetière Ste-Dorothee, Laval
