On Thursday, July 25, 2024, Shier passed away peacefully in his 99th year after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Survived by his wife of Hattie Bossin and his sister Gloria (Shulman). Shier was a loving father and father-in-law of Allen and Jane, Richard and Nili and Joanne and Charles (Katz). Step father to Jeffrey (Lisa) Shulman. A devoted grandfather of Jennifer (Jonathan) and Daniel (Angie), Oren (Shani) and Michelle, and Jeremy (Claire) and Laura (Udi), Benjamin and proud great-grandfather of 14. Shier had a distinguished career as a Chartered Professional Accountant, retiring from his first career as a senior partner with Wm. Eisenberg & Co. and and later with Deloitte, only to begin a 20 year career with the Canada Revenue Agency at age 71. Heartfelt thanks to all the nurses and doctors at North York General Hospital and Forest View Retirement Residences, and to the many home caregivers who supported Dad throughout his battle. A very special thank-you to Agueda.
