Shirley Joan O’Neill (nee McMullen)
August 12, 1933 – May 22, 2024
Peacefully, at the Milton District Hospital on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Shirley O’Neill passed away in her 90th year. Loving mother of Kimberley Harrison (nee O’Neill) and
her husband Jonathon. Dear grandmother of Chelsea and Zachary. Sadly, missed by Heather (Scott),
sister-in-law Donna and her loving nieces and nephews from the McMullen, Gaetan, Watson and Billing families.
Predeceased by her loving sister Helen (Bill), brother Robert, niece Sandy, mother and father Violet and Robert (Bob)
McMullen. Beloved by her extended family within Martindale Senior Living Apartments and those who
she grew up with in Milton Heights.
Shirley loved Milton in which she was born, raised, and spent much of her entire life. Working at
P.L. Robertson Manufacturing Company for 42 years and another 10 years at Wallace & Carey Inc. in which
she made a significant impact over the years, always making lasting memories and friendships along the
way. She loved spending time with family, shopping, dancing, playing cards and Sequence with friends
and sitting outside on a sunny day with a nice breeze flowing through her hair.
Special thanks to Dr. Hunter, Dr. Hui and the wonderful Doctors and Nurses at the Milton District Hospital for
their support and compassion over her lifetime.
As per Shirley’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Later there will be a Celebration of Life with
family and friends, where memories and laughter will be in abundance.
In lieu of flowers, Shirley would love if you spent time with your family, dance like no one is watching,
plant flowers and when you look of them, think of her.
Shirley was such a bright light in so many people’s lives that it is only fitting that a star has been named after Shirley.
If you look into the sky, the star Shirley Joan O’Neill is located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is a bright star filled with joy.
