Shirley Isabelle Higgins – Truro. It is with great

Shirley was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed attending church when she was able. Her
main focus was family; she loved family gatherings and she especially
enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended
family. She was a stay-at-home Mom for many years and as her children
grew, she enjoyed her time spent working in customer service at Sears
until she retired. It was always a joy for Shirley to attend the
various sporting events as well as dance and musicals that her
grandchildren were involved in. She took great pride in their
educational achievements. She loved dancing, especially the Tuesday
night dances at the Legion with Dad, sewing, knitting, doing crafts
and baking. She also loved travelling, especially her many trips to
Florida with Dad, and Edith McSween, and the family trip to Dominican
Republic.
Special thanks to VON Homecare for their support over the
past number of years and to the staff at The Mira where Mom resided
for the last four months. Mom would definitely want us to express
gratitude to Dr. Neil Bower, who was her esteemed physician for many
years prior to his retirement.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Shirley’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, October 8, 2023,
and funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2023,
