Loving wife and best friend for 70 years to the late Allan Jackson. Devoted mother to Keith (Sandy) Cobourg and Susan (the late John) Barrie. Nan to Sherry (Chris) Belleville, Jason (Carla) Sudbury, Joshua, Sudbury, Heather (Len) Innisfil and Kristal, Barrie. Great nanny to 8 great grandchildren: Alysha, Georgina, Thomas, Cera, William, Aislynn, Bryce, and Kyleigh.
Shirley and Allan met as teenagers and embraced on a life together. They started in Toronto then moved to Tottenham where they quickly became part of the community. They enjoyed travelling, volunteering bowling and housed various pets, but most of all loved their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anyone who knew Shirley knows she always had snacks and treats for everyone who came to visit but secretly she enjoyed sharing them with her furry friends. Shirley’s folk art was outstanding and she looked forward to annual craft shows to be able to share them with others. Everyone knew there was always room at the Jackson’s Bed and Breakfast.
The family would like to thank the staff at Roseglen Village, the nurses at NHH rehab department, nurse practitioner Dimitri, and the palliative care staff Dr. Mulé, nurse Karen and nurse Colin.
In lieu of flowers the family would like you to enjoy your favourite activity and remember Shirley who had a full, happy and long life.
Cremation has taken place and a small (casual) family celebration of life will take place Saturday, July 13 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East, Cobourg.
