In loving memory of Sherrill Lynn Benns of Cayley, Alberta, born on June 28, 1948.
Sherrill was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul Benns, and her father Lewis Mitchell Clark.
She is survived by her daughter, Nevada Benns, and son, Tanner Benns, along with her mother, Mary Clark, and brother, Neil Clark.
Sherrill’s love for life was beautifully reflected in her passion for gardening, love of animals and her dedication to her children. She was always tending to her rose gardens, her big yard of flowers, and her vegetable gardens, along with caring for dogs and stray cats, her beloved Peppy the Peacock, and above all, her cherished horses. She will be remembered for her warm hospitality, always opening her home, and sharing her culinary talents for family gatherings.
Sherrill was a dedicated hockey mom and rodeo mom, a horsewoman, artist, horticulturalist, registered nurse, and a woman of faith. Her smile and courage were seen by all who met her; she never gave up and was one of the hardest working women known by those who loved her. She will forever be remembered for riding powerful barrel horses, her famous waffle and pancake breakfasts with eggs and bacon and whip cream, her pet peacock, and her vibrant flowers.
Sherrill’s life was tragically cut short while doing what she loved most – riding her horse. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
