Sheila Helen Verhoeven (nee Cassell) Obituary
Sheila Verhoeven (nee Cassell) passed away peacefully on the evening of May 15, 2024, at Lanark Lodge in Perth at the age of 71. Former wife of Henry Verhoeven. Daughter of Olive Cassell (nee Palmer) and the late Ross Cassell. Loving Mother of John Duff and his wife Angela. Predeceased by her brother David Cassell (Joan). Lovingly remembered by her sisters Carol (Robert Easton), Patrecia (late Grant Hobbs), and Judith (late Ron Salmon). Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Following in her sister Carol’s footsteps, Sheila became a hair stylist in the early 70’s. Her entrepreneurial spirit quickly kicked in leading her to open her hair salon, House of Hair Design in Smiths Falls, where she joyfully worked side-by-side with her sister Patrecia, for many years. Sheila enjoyed numerous hobbies, but most recently had a passion for beading. Whatever her passion was at the time, she was “all in”. Sheila was known for her infectious personality and was constantly joking and laughing.
A special thank you to all her caregivers at Lanark Lodge for their loving care. She would always comment how happy she was to be living at Lanark Lodge and always referred to it as home.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life to be held at the Brunton Community Hall (9th Line of Beckwith in Black’s Corners) on Friday, July 12th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lannin Funeral Home.
