Passed away at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on August 12, 2024, at the age of 58. Born in Liverpool, UK, to parents Janet (née Brooks) and Geoffrey Jones, both predeceased. A beloved older sister to Graham and Barbara (Dave). Sheila immigrated to Canada in 1980 before settling in Cambridge a year later.
Adored mother of Nathan (Amii), Kailie (Elliott) and Naiomi. Her greatest source of pride came from her children, who are all equally proud to be her kids. She was devoted ‘Auntie Sheila’ to John (Nicole) and Michael (Jewel), as well as all the children on the Annetts’ side of the family from her previous marriage. That Auntie title extended to any friends brought home by her kids, always being a safe place for them to land.
Sheila was a dedicated employee and a hardworking woman. For 29 years of her life, she worked at Zellers, moving around Ontario to Kitchener, Godrich, and Stratford. For the second act of her career, she worked as an administrative office worker for The Literacy Group and CBI Health in Cambridge. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In following Sheila’s wishes, a cremation has taken place, and a small family service will be held at home at a later date.
The family would like to thank the medical team at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their work and support during Sheila’s six-month battle against cancer. The family would also greatly appreciate donations to Pancreatic Cancer Canada. A memorial page has been set up in her honour.
