It is with profound sadness that we announce Shawn Lyda’s passing on June 8, 2024, at the Edson Hospital at the age of 51. Born on January 31, 1973, in Edson, AB, Shawn leaves behind a legacy of love for his family, a testament to his profound and unwavering devotion.
Shawn, a hard-working young man with a fun-loving, quick-witted and adventurous spirit, made significant contributions to the family logging business. His career, which he shared with his father and brothers, was not just a job, but a passion that he poured his heart and soul into. Shawn embarked on an independent contract in the last couple of years, further demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his craft.
Shawn was a competitive athlete from a young age, excelling in BMX biking, track and field, basketball, and golf. His frequent fishing and hunting trips showed his love for the outdoors. As a dedicated father, he took pride in instilling in his children a passion for sports and the outdoors, often planning family vacations around these activities.
Shawn is survived by his loving wife, Danielle, and children Caitlin (Daylen), Zackery and Joshua. Grandchildren Oaklen, Lochlen and Rhylen. He will be missed by his mother, Lynda Lyda, Step-mother Cindy Lyda, and siblings Dwayne, Kevin (Jeanette), Lisa (Marc) and Heather (Mike). The Beaupre family will also cherish memories along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Shawn was predeceased in death by his father, Lawrence Lyda, Grandparents, Ann Harris, Lawrence and Verna Bogart, and Aunts, Debbie Roersma and Bev Hudzinski. While he is no longer with us physically, his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched as a dedicated entrepreneur, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend.
In this time of grief, we extend our deepest sympathies to the Lyda and Beaupre family and all those who knew and loved Shawn. May his soul find eternal peace as we forever carry his spirit in our hearts. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to the Edson Hospital Acute Care unit medical staff, whose care and comfort to Shawn were invaluable.
