KRAGH: Sharon Maureen – A cherished member of the Ingersoll community has left us on June 27, 2024 in her 77th year. Sharon Maureen KRAGH passed away suddenly at Alexandra Hospital.
Born on Tuesday, July 23,1946, in Ingersoll, she was the daughter of the late William Jensen Kragh (1910-1964) and the late Margaret Jean Church (1919-1997) formerly of Ingersoll. Sharon was the oldest of three children, all of whom were born in Ingersoll.
Sharon was born with many challenges – and always navigated those with fortitude. She was one of the very first disabled students who attended WDDS (Woodstock and District Developmental Services) for handicapped children with developmental needs. After her schooling years, she worked at ARCH Industries for about 22 years. No doubt, she was a cutting edge person for the developmental programs for the handicapped and disabled children of Oxford County. Those that knew Sharon remember her being exceptionally independent – living on her own the majority of her life. In her later years, Sharon could be seen walking the many streets and hills of Ingersoll prior to her stroke two years ago. There is hardly a face in Ingersoll that she didn’t recognize. People often commented that she had probably walked to the moonVand back! She loved her hometown, coffee and chats at Miss Ingersoll’s, and meeting familiar folks along the way. There was never a puzzle that Sharon didn’t love. She had exceptional embroidery skills – and loved her arts and crafts. Not to forget her love of watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy” every night of the week – except on Sundays, when she tuned into “60 Minutes”. And how she loved animal s- her kindness to them was special. A few years ago, she got to cuddle a baby kangaroo – and her smile was a mile wide!
Sharon will be profoundly missed by her brother, William “Doug” Kragh (Cheryl De Mara) of Lake Country, B.C., and her sister Marie (Gerald) Wainwright of Coaldale, Alberta. Also survived by her nephews, Christopher and Sean Wainwright of Lethbridge, Alberta and niece Stephanie Kragh (Emre Esensoy) of Toronto. Sharon was so proud to tell everyone this past March that she was now a “Great Aunt” – and was very much looking forward to meeting her brand new Great nephew, baby Alev Esensoy, within the near future. Photographs of Alev were uploaded to her tablet – and she stared at those with sweet love in her eyes.
Our family would like to thank all the caring staff and caseworkers at Ingersoll Support Services (ISSI) for their
exceptional care of Sharon over the many years. All of you enriched Sharon’s life in immeasurable ways. The family would also like to recognize cousin Joanne Ferrow as well as the extended Ferrow and Phillips families for their love and companionship to Sharon over the years. There are simply no words. We would especially like to thank the attending E.R. staff, Physician’s and nurses at Alexandra Hospital for the care that Sharon received.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to be made to First Baptist Church in Ingersoll, where Sharon
had been a life-long parishioner since Sunday School. She loved the Church – and it was a place of worship that was
near and dear to her heart or the the Ingersoll Support Services.
Relatives and friends will be received in the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be conducted in First Baptist Church on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at the Harris Street Cemetery, where she will be buried and reunited next to her beloved Mother and Father.
You will always be in our hearts. Personal condolences can be posted at www.mcbeathdynes.ca
Rest easy, Sharon
