November 8, 1976 – February 24, 2024
Shane John Marleau, aka Tatt, sadly passed away in his home on February 24, 2024 as a result of late stage cancer. Shane was an Eastender from Cornwall, Ontario, but ended up finding his home in Northern Ontario on Lake Helen Reserve after taking a leap of faith.
Shane had a good heart and a tender soul. He wanted the best for the ones that he loved. His sense of humour was his most admirable quality that remained unchanged, even through sickness. He enjoyed telling jokes and riddles to make his loved ones laugh.
Shane enjoyed expressing his creativity through tattooing his friends, family and more for over 14 years. He loved the outdoors and sitting by the campfire. He also loved animals; he would have owned a farm if he could. As a child he would rescue dogs, turtles and birds and bring them home, often to the surprise of his parents. Shane was a passionate teacher always wanting to share his knowledge with others. He had a knack for reusing broken or old unwanted items in ways others would not normally think of. His artistic personality allowed him to see the practicality of recreating rather than throwing away.
When Shane wasn’t tattooing or creating art, he was out riding his ATV, spending time with his family, or watching his favourite classic or horror tv shows and movies. He also listened to a variety of genres of music and artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, and The Beatles. The things he loved the most was his children, his family, and his dog Karma.
Shane is survived by his loving partner Jessica Robert; by his children and stepchildren Taylor (Chance), Tyler, Tyson, Tristan, Shae, Zeth, Thayne, Jordyn and Jada; his loving mother Katherine Paupst (Mummy); his sister Stacey; nephews Kurtis and Korgan; niece Autumnlily (Lilypad); the mother of his younger children, Megan, as well as other family members. Shane is predeceased by his father Michel Marleau; beloved grandparents John and Theresa Paupst of Cornwall, and Arthur and Lucille Marleau of Cornwall; the mother of his eldest children, Tina; and his beloved pets Smegel, Mimi and Spike.
Shane will be missed by all who knew him. His mother will surely miss his shock and awe sense of humour and hearing him call her “mummy”. His little “Sis” will never forget how he was always so proud to tell everyone she was his little sister; he was her biggest fan.
Shane will be cremated, as per his wishes. Arrangements for a celebration of life will be planned and take place at a later date.
