It is with profound sadness we announce the unexpected passing on August 9, 2024 of our beloved father, son and brother due to a heart attack.
Born on December 29, 1968, his departure comes as a great shock and is gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who loved him.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Brett, daughter Lila and their mother Cathy MacPhail – MacDonald.
Dear son of Mary Claire & Peter. Scott is survived by his brother Derek (Allyson) and his sister Shannon (Jeff) Urquhart. Son-in-law to Kenzie & Kathleen MacPhail and brother-in-law to Johnny (Sadine) MacPhail, Virginia (Scott) MacDonald and Neil (Leona) MacPhail. He was godson and nephew to Brian MacDonald & the late Teresa Mayne. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Scott entered the workforce out of high school, but being the hard worker that he was, he eventually went on to graduate from St. Clair College as a Millwright, a position he held for 25 years.
Growing up, he had a passion for all sports, but especially baseball. His dad, Peter, coached him for many years on his various teams and Scott continued to enjoy playing baseball into adulthood. Following in his father’s footsteps, he proudly coached his son in baseball and his daughter in softball for many years. Lila will forever cherish his tireless dedication. There were countless hours spent nurturing her in their mutual love of the sport.
Those who knew and loved Scott, were always entertained by his unique sense of humour. Whether he was injecting his own witty comment into the conversation, or a fitting line from a well-known movie, he had the gift of making people laugh.
Scott was an enthusiastic music and sports fan. He was a devoted and loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers, Montreal Canadiens, The Detroit Tigers, The Michigan Wolverines & The Tragically Hip. He shared these devotions with his son, Brett, who will dearly miss their golf outings, their love of attending a good movie together but most of all, their many daily conversations, all of which helped to form a deep bond between the two that will never be broken.
The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Mental Health Association in his name.
Scott, everyone you left behind in this world hates that you are gone but we are happy that you are home, free and painless. We will always love and miss you until we can meet again.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug 14, 2024 from 9:30am-11am at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor.
