It is with great sadness that the family of Saverio Panetta announce his passing on September 11, 2023.
Saverio, born January 6, 1968, son to Emmacolata and Vincenzo Panetta, grew up in Ashgrove, a small hamlet in south Georgetown, along with his four sisters. Saverio’s parents owned and operated a gas station and body shop which were the early seeds that grew his entrepreneurial spirt and his love for motorcycles. Emmacolata and Vincenzo were role models of how hard work and calculated risk could grow a thriving business. These early days set the foundation for an entrepreneurial spirt that fueled Saverio success in business.
As a young boy, serving customers gas alongside his father, Saverio’s love of vehicles and more specifically motorcycles became a growing passion. At 13 Saverio received his first motorcycle and Georgetown’s small-town charm, and gentle landscape provided him the opportunities that taught and fueled his lifelong passion. An avid collector of motorcycles, from the Aprillia’s to Ducati’s, Saverio enjoyed his annual rides with motorcycle enthusiast across North America. He channelled his passion and his knowledge as 16-year senior instructor with Humber College teaching and mentoring new generations of rider to enjoy and be safe.
In 1988, Saverio graduated from Humber College, earning a degree in INBS, Electronics and International Business and shortly thereafter, in 1990, established ToroidTech where he began manufacturing toroidal transformers and over the past 32 years grew the company to become a leader in the North American Torodial Transformer Market with manufacturing facilities in Bolton, Ontario and India and representation throughout the United States. In 2013, Saverio expanded his company with the purchase of Atlas Transformer where he expanded his manufacturing and client base to service the industrial, commercial and institutional clients.
In 1997, Saverio met his love and life partner, Silvia and in 2001, were married and settled in Kleinberg where together they grew their business and family. In 2004, Saverio and Silvia welcomed there first born, Daniel Vincent, followed by the birth of Isabella in 2007. Saverio’s family fueled his drive to build a legacy for his children, one where they could one day lead and continue to grow. With Silvia and his children, Saverio lived life to the fullest, enjoying travels, their time in Sant Martin, their home away from home, and the love family that surrounded them. Family gatherings and festivities, over tables filled with good food and wine, were a staple at the Panetta’s with Saverio as chef and Silvia the consummate hostess. Today, these are all treasured memories.
Saverio’s kind and generous soul touched many people. He was always present with an outstretched hand to help and guide those who needed support whether in business or in life – from students to family to business associates. Saverio leaves behind a legacy in business and in life that will now be the foundation upon which Silvia, Daniel, Isabella and his extended family will draw strength and the courage to continue the work that he so ably began.
“So when tomorrow starts without you
We will not think we’re far apart
For every time we think of you
You will be right here in our hearts”
He will be forever missed by his loving wife, Silvia. Cherished by his dear children, Daniel, and Isabella. Saverio will be reunited in Heaven with his father Vincenzo, and deeply missed by his mother, Emmacolata. Saverio will always be remembered by his sisters Mary (Rocco), Katherine (Alfredo), Rose, and Teresa. He will be deeply missed by his sisters-in-law Gabriella (Charles) and Loretta (Saverio). Saverio leaves behind his nieces and nephews Domenic (Kristie), Vince (Jaymie), Susie (Nathan), Josie (Daniel), Alessio, Anthony (Julia), Julia (Robert), Francesca, and Nick. He will be held dear in the hearts of his family, relatives, and many friends. If so desired, donations in memory of Saverio may be made to the MADD Foundation.
