February 18, 1972 – September 24, 2023

One of Sarah’s most inspiring people was Joni Eareckson Tada, whose story of overcoming following a diving accident which left her as a paraplegic, challenged Sarah to always go forward with an “I can do it!” attitude. Joni is a Christian author, radio host, artist and founder of Joni and Friends, an organization “accelerating Christian ministry in the disability community”. She publishes a daily devotional which Sarah followed regularly The following Scripture reading comes from a passage in her book, “Diamonds in the Dust”, The devotional reading is entitled, “Cobweb Problems”:
For our light and momentary problems are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
• 2 Corinthians 4:1
Joni writes, Wouldn’t it be glorious if we could consider all our trials to be as light and momentary as cobwebs. We can!. . . Whatever (challenges) are weighing you down. . . are not chains. They are featherweight when compared to the glory yet to come.
Sarah can now attest to the truth of this comment.
Peacefully, with family present, Sarah went to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Headwaters Health Center in Orangeville. Much loved daughter of Ruth Ann and Gary Murray; loved sister of Tim and Jon, and sister-in-law, Christine; proud aunt of Reid, Elyssa, Breanne and Leah. Sarah will be missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.
A Celebration of Life is to be held for Sarah at Compass Community Church on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 12:00 pm, Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Dr. Ken Derksen, a close friend of the family and Elder at Compass Community Church will be officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada or to the Headwaters Healthcare Foundation.
A tree will be planted in memory of Sarah in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
