Santa (Carmela) Sgreccia

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our precious mamma, nonna and bisnonna, Carmela Sgreccia, in her 98th year. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Quinto (deceased 1988).
Mamma will be lovingly remembered by her children, Fernando and Nancy, Giannina and Dino Toscani, Tina and Angelo Lolli, and Danny and Laura. Nonna is adored by her grandchildren baby Michael (late), Cinzia and Dean, Tanya and Terry, Nadia and Joseph, Cristina and Michael, Diana and George, Joshua, Adrian and Keisha, Angelina and Nicolas. She is the cherished bisnonna of Mario, Sofia, Isabella, Zachary, Sienna, Ava, Marcus, Jacob, Georgie, Zoe and Isla.
Carmela is survived by her brother Mario and sister-in-law Teresa, as well as her sisters-in-law Leandra and Elvira. She is predeceased by Cleofe (Armando), Temisto, Adolfo (Rita), Maria (Attilio) and Amedeo.
Zia Carmela is also mourned by many nieces and nephews in Canada and in Italy.
Carmela was born in Corinaldo, Ancona and immigrated to Canada in 1964 with her husband and her two eldest children, Fernando and Giannina, luggage in hand, hoping to make a better life for their family. Carmela and Quinto were then blessed with two more children, Tina and Danny. She was never a stranger to hard work, always giving of herself to others. Our mom was very passionate about her garden, her hobby farm and also enjoyed sewing. One of her greatest loves was cooking meals for her family and having everyone around the table, laughing and creating special memories.
We will surely miss her love, strength, determination, selflessness and devotion to her family and to her faith.
Santa was dearly loved by the wonderful and caring staff at Ridgeview Long Term Care, where she resided the last three and a half years. Special thanks to all of them and also to Doctor Ralph Profetto for their care and compassion towards our mother.
Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, on Wednesday, November 27th from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Assumption Church on Thursday, November 28th at 10am. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences can be made to www.baygardens.ca
