Obituary of Sandra Bell
It is with heavy hearts that Sandra Lee Bell’s family announces her death, which occurred on November 5, 2023 at the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre. Sandy was born in Summerside, PEI, on September 13, 1947, a daughter of the late Sterling and Vera (Paugh) Smith. The family soon moved to Moncton, New Brunswick, where Sandy spent her youth before attending teacher’s college in Fredericton, meeting her husband Randy at a Lily Lake dance, and settling into her role as an elementary school teacher in Saint John.
Sandy was a ray of sunshine and she brought warmth everywhere she went; former students would greet her in a parking lot decades after being taught by her to claim she was their favourite teacher. After her second child was born, she stopped teaching for a while and gave her whole heart to her family; her kids were greeted with warm chocolate chip cookies and a smile upon return from school and could count on her unwavering love and pride. She enjoyed many hobbies with dear friends over the years: many laughs with sorority, the Ukulele ladies, the Neighbourhood Theatre Company, golf and bridge. There wasn’t a cliff she wouldn’t scale to gather berries for her batches of jam. She was happiest at the family cottage on the Belleisle Bay, and also enjoyed many years in Florida after Randy’s retirement.
Sandra will be missed by her loving husband Randy of 52 years; daughter Katherine Anne Bell (Ian MacRae) of Cambridge ON; son Tim (Cheryl) Bell of Hammonds Plains NS; grandchildren: Morgan, Logan, Isabel, Aiden; sisters: Linda Patterson (Stephen), Sharon Leblanc (Ray), and her identical twin Sylvia Stackhouse (Harley) along with much loved nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 3 to 6 PM. Private family interment will take place at Kirkhill Cemetery, Sus.
