It is with heavy hearts that Sandra’s family announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Loving and devoted wife of Myer for sixty-nine years. Predeceased by her parents, Barney and Bella Helfield. Treasured mother and mother-in-law of Jeffrey (Elena), Mark and Ellen, Ian, Rob and Margo, and Lyna. Cherished Bubby of Brittany, Skyler (Noah), Jessyka, Joey and Paige, Ryan and Amy, Austin, Mallory, and Wyatt. Great-grandmother of Scarlett. Sister of the late Martin; and sister-in-law of Issie and Evy Snitzer, Leah and the late Seymour Glustein, the late Larry and the late Judy Snitzer. Sandy will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Sandy lived a simple life that was devoted to home, family, and friends. She took pride and pleasure volunteering at the Jewish Rehabilitation Centre for over fifteen years caring for others. Sandy’s favourite quote was “If I only live to see”… Bar Mitzvahs, graduations, weddings, grandchildren… Heartfelt gratitude to the loving, caring and compassionate staff at Jewish Eldercare Centre. Special thanks to Dr. Earl Edelstein and the amazing caregivers on the 4th floor of both Kastner and Hope Pavilions at the Jewish Eldercare Centre. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St., W., on Wednesday, February 28 at 12:00 noon. Burial at the Shevat Achim Congregation Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at her home, Wednesday following burial until 7:00 p.m., Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Friday from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Donations in Sandy’s memory may be made to the Donald Berman Jewish Hospital of Hope Eldercare Foundation, (514) 738-4500 ext.: 2124.
