It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Sandra Lynn Slaney of St. Lawrence, NL (formerly of Brockville, ON), announce her passing. Sandra passed away at the U.S. Memorial Health Centre in St. Lawrence on September 14, 2024 at the age of 69.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband of 27 years, Paul Slaney; son, William «Ryan» Merkley of Brockville, ON; sister, Linda Macpherson (Ken) of ON; brothers: Larry Grant (Sharon), Ken Grant, and Don Grant all of ON; plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Larry Grant.
Sandra had a heart of gold, ready to give to anyone who needed it, whether that was a great friend or a total stranger. She loved the outdoors, and spent many days hiking the beautiful Burin Peninsula trails. A trip to the grocery store could take hours because she was either helping someone out, shopping for her neighbours, or having a yarn with everyone in the store. She loved people, could find the silver lining in any situation, and never had a negative thing to say. Sandra’s favourite saying was, «Kindness Costs Nothing, Be Kind!», and those were truly words that she lived by.
In keeping with Sandra’s wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In Sandra’s memory, donations may be made to the Slaney family.
