PHILLIPS, Samuel 92 years.
October 21, 1932 – December 09, 2024.
With heavy hearts we share the passing of Sam at Shepherd Village Lodge.
A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; Sam will be missed by all who knew him. Born and raised in Bonavista Newfoundland Sam met the love of his life, Irene Manuel (of Northern Arm Newfoundland) when they both worked at the hospital in Corner Brook. They married in Toronto, and over the next 63 years together they raised a family instilled with strong core values of honesty, integrity and love, setting a shining example of love and devotion to all who knew them.
Sam is pre deceased by his wife Irene, and survived by his children Glen (Karen), Brian (Mary Anne), Linda; second father to Diane (Kurt); his grandchildren Dayna, Lauren (Andrew), Dhillon and Braeden; and 2 great grandchildren.
Sam worked with the TTC for 35 years and was a Cancer Society volunteer. Sam was known for his infectious laugh, humour and caring attitude. Playing cribbage with Sam was a lesson in humility for all. Never one to sit still, Sam would out pace many when he was on the go. Sam was well known within his circle as someone who would take time out of his day to help others at the proverbial drop of a hat.
We are thankful to all the staff at Shepherd Village Lodge, who exemplify caring, compassion and have made Sam feel comfortable since his arrival. A private celebration of life will be planned for the family. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
