Sadie Marguerite Treen (nee Purdy)
May 21,1932 – December 18, 2024
It is with heavy hearts, the family of Sadie Marguerite Treen (nee Purdy) announce her passing at Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche Nova Scotia on December 18, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on May 21,1932, Sadie was a daughter of the late William and Truena (Mattatall) Purdy.
Mom was a devoted wife of 64 years to Howard and loving mother to her five girls. Mom was a resident of Malagash all her life. She was a long-time member of the Malagash United Church, volunteering in many fundraising events and volunteered many hours for the Canadian Cancer Society. Mom was known for her fabulous cooking and baking skills, beautiful gardens, and love of children. One of her favourite things to do was meeting with friends for an evening of cribbage and Forty-fives. Spending time with her grandchildren were her most treasured moments.
Survived by daughters, Jocelyn (Robert), Valerie (Hugo), Donna (Frank), Wanda (Dale), Pamela (Dave); grandmother of Anthony Dobson (Annette), Patricia Dobson (Jim), Dusti Mowat (Jamie), Jennifer Chambers (Greg), Colby Gogan (Jasemine), Jessica Basilan (Irvin), Carissa Langille Li (Conan) and Courtney Langille (Dustin); great grandmother of twelve; sisters-in-law. Shirley Purdy, Jean Speakman (Dave), Bertha Langille and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Howard Treen; sister, Mildred Wentzell and brothers, Hilton and Winston Purdy.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home in Tatamagouche. A family graveside service will be held on December 28, 2024 in Malagash United Church Cemetery at 11:00am, followed by a reception for family and friends at the home of Jocelyn and Robert Dobson from 12:00pm-2:00pm. In Mom’s memory, in lieu of flowers any donations may be made to Malagash United Church or charity of your choice. The family wants to thank Dr. Anna Roebuck and the staff at Willow Lodge for their care and support.
