Sadie Harris
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Sadie Margaret Harris of Grand Bank announces her passing. Sadie passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Sunday, September 3rd, 2023, at the age of 92.
Sadie was born in Groul and resettled in Grand Bank in 1955 from Great Harbour. She was married to Edward for 44 years and they had 7 children whom she loved more than anything.
Sadie’s faith was very important to her and she was very involved with the church. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, reading and spending time with friends and family.
Since the loss of her husband 29 years ago, Sadie created a full and independent life with wonderful friendships she has made since then.
Sadie was fondly referred to as «Aunt Sadie» to many and was loved by everyone who met her.
Sadie’s family would like to thank her homecare workers Glenda, Marcella & Renee, Doctors and staff at Dr. S. Beckley Heath Care Center, Burin Peninsula Health Care Center and Grand Bank/Fortune Ambulance staff.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, Robert (Cathy) of Grand Bank, Sid (Golda) of Corner Brook, Cecil (Joanne) of Grand Bank; daughters, Gloria ( Bob) of Mount Pearl, Stella (Carl) of Mount Pearl, Lucy (Doug) of St. John’s, Colleen (Winston) of Grand Bank; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Stephen, Paul, Paula, Penny, Jodie, Mark, Emilie, Lauren, Sean, Jennifer; 18 great grandchildren; plus a large circle of relatives and friends.
Sadie was predeceased by her husband, Edward; great grandsons, Matthew, Lucas; daughter in-law, Marlie; parents, Andrew & Rosanna Rose; sister, Dorothy; brother, Reuben; stepbrother, Harold.
The Harris Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman’s Funeral Home, Grand Bank on Monday, September 4th, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Tuesday, September 5th, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral service will take place at St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Main Street, Grand Bank, NL on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Alban’s Anglican Cemetery, Grand Bank, NL.
In Sadie’s memory donations may be made to St. Alban’s Anglican Church Fund, Grand Bank, NL or flowers gratefully accepted.
