Ruth Garlinski Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Joyce Garlinski on July 28, 2024, at the age of 93. Ruth was born on August 3, 1930 in MacNutt, SK to parents Rudolph and Katherine (Schneider) Fatteicher.
She was raised on the family farm and, after her education at the age of 19, she moved to Dauphin, MB. On July 29, 1950 she married Leonard (Leo) Garlinski and together they farmed in Ashville, MB. In 1951, they moved to Winnipeg, MB and eventually returned to Dauphin, MB in 1961 where they opened West End Service Ltd, a restaurant, store, gas station and garage. In 1978, they started Central Bus Lines until her retirement in 1990. Ruth was a proud member of the Dauphin Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Ruth and Leo were also members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #20 in Dauphin. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, gardening and cooking for family and friends.
She is survived by her two children, Richard (Leanne) Garlinski and Marianne (Ken) Granger; two grandchildren, Brian (Denay) Granger and Kevin (Kelsey) Granger; one great-grandchild Bryden Granger; and one brother Clifford (Cheryl) Fatteicher.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Leo, brothers Edward (infant), Orland, Wesley, Norman, George, John, Rodney and one sister Rose Maduik.
In honour of Ruth’s wishes, a graveside service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Riverside Cemetery (Veterans/Legion) in Dauphin for all to attend. Pastor Howard Burnie officiating. The family invites everyone present for a time of fellowship and refreshment at the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre Reception Room following the interment.
