On October 5, 2023, our mom and grandmother, Ruth Irene Mathews (née Newman) called an end to her journey with the help of her compassionate health care providers and support of her family. Ruth passed at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Mathews in 2017. Caroline Place in Hamilton was their last home together, after having extraordinary lives, many friendships and adventures in Wingham, Formosa, Carlisle, Windsor, Ottawa, Sudbury, Amherstburg, and many winters in Destin, Florida.
Ruth and Bill’s children are Bruce (Barb) from Guelph, Colleen (Mike) from Calgary, and Eric (Kathy) from Port Dover.
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were dearly loved by Granny; Maddy and Mitch, Karly (Lyndon Morningstar) and Robyn, Emily and Sarah, Lindsay (Steve), Amelia and Rozlyn, James (Lesley) and Charlotte.
Ruth is survived by her sister Lorna Fox and family from Amherstburg.
Family members are hosting a celebration of Ruth’s life at the Greens at Renton in Renton, Ontario, on Sunday November 26, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Memories will be shared at 2:30 pm.
